History
Bob Barrows of R&B Aircraft is the designer of the Bearhawk and Bearhawk Patrol. He lives in Fincastle, Virginia just outside of Roanoke. Bob sells plans for those aircraft and provides technical support to hundreds of builders worldwide. Bob built the first prototype Bearhawk in the early 1990s to help support his aircraft engine business, and he has been building variations on the original prototype (and engines) ever since. Bob is an EAA Technical Counselor, an engineer, and an all-around nice guy, but he stays busy with all sorts of projects. He knows the value of having promotional materials like hats and shirts in circulation, but finds it best to out-source the distribution of those materials. Several years ago he asked Bill Fitzgerald to provide hats and shirts, and Bill established the BearhawkStore.com domain name. Bill provided quality embroidered hats and shirts for several years, but has unfortunately had some medical complications and has retired from that role.
In late 2009, Bob asked us if we would like to carry on where Bill left off. We were more than glad to accept his gracious offer, and this site is the result. We are building a Bearhawk and know first-hand the value of being able to spot another Bearhawker from afar. We have chosen a line of products that we hope will fit your preferences, and we will entertain any requests for items that aren't part of our usual stock.
In addition to Bob Barrows, you should also know about Avipro Aircraft Ltd. Avipro is separate from Bob's R&B Aircraft; they are the company that supplies finely crafted Bearhawk Quick-Build Kits. We are not directly affiliated with Avipro, but we communicate with them regularly both as a customer and as a source of great Bearhawk branded gear.
We welcome visits to our building project, which is also only a few feet from our "store!" The Bearhawk Store is only a part-time job, so we may not be available on short notice.
